Assessment & Reports
At Toynbee School, we are committed to the highest possible outcomes for our pupils. As a school we believe in equipping pupils with the skills and qualifications to be successful in life and we expect all students to strive to achieve their personal best. We have very high expectations of what pupils should achieve in their subjects and an expectation that they will make significant progress during their time here. We aim to continually raise pupils’ aspirations and engender a real commitment to achieving beyond expectation in their academic results by setting challenging, yet realistic, targets.
Through regular formative assessment of pupils’ work, the school is able to accurately judge the progress of pupils on their academic journey through school. As a school, we have spent the last few years creating and embedding cutting edge ways to monitor and track this progress so no child is left behind or does make the progress expected. These systems allow the school to really focus on the individual pupil and their needs and this enables the school to see every child as individuals and not just numbers on a spreadsheet. It is this combination of high quality tracking systems and a focus on the individual that has enabled us to continue to raise standards.
As parents you can expect to be regularly informed of your child’s progress throughout the year. You will receive three formal reports that highlight how your child is progressing in subjects against their targets. You can also expect a written report that says where your child’s strengths are in subjects, as well as clear and informative feedback as to how your child can continue to develop in the curriculum. Through this dialogue between school, parents and pupils about progress and achievement, we can ensure that standards at Toynbee continue to rise.
