Moving up to secondary school can be very scary and worrying for some students, but here at Toynbee we work
hard to make it as easy and happy as possible. Our aim is for all of Year 6 to make a successful transition into
secondary school life, and to become part of the school community where they can achieve their full potential
and make excellent academic progress.
Our transition programme includes visits to every primary school, by the Year 7 Guidance Manager- Miss Petty.
We also offer a full day of induction to all students where they get to meet tutors and experience taster
If you have any questions regarding your child’s transition, please do not hesitate to contact Miss Petty at the
school, either by phone 02380 269026 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Students who require additional transition also have opportunities to come in for a morning with the learning
support department, as well as tailored 1:1 visits, and this year the '627' Group.
The '627' programme is a 3 day transition programme for students who need some extra support with key
subjects to ensure that they are secondary ready. There will be invitations sent to selected students in June,
with the programme taking place from the 10 -12 July.
