Children's University
What is the Children's University™?

It is a national scheme for 5-14 year olds that promotes and celebrates quality out-of-school learning through participation in activities at places such as after-school clubs, sports clubs, arts clubs, tourist attractions as well as local businesses and places of work.

The New Forest & Southampton Children’s University objectives are to raise aspirations for all children and ensure they achieve their full potential.

All of the activities are checked by us to ensure that they promote high quality learning and, more importantly, are fun.

Each child that joins the scheme will receive a Passport to Learning and login details to the epassport in which to record the time they spend at Learning Destinations.  Once they complete 30 hours of activities they will obtain the first award and will be invited to a special Graduation Ceremony to receive their award from the Hampshire CU Chancellor & Paralympian Aaron Phipps. We aim to hold two ceremonies a year.

Children’s membership is organised through their school. Your local Children’s University (CU) is the New Forest and Southampton Children’s University. It is run by Brockenhurst College, Southampton Solent University & Blackfield & Fawley Federation, as well as a number of founding schools.

Child membership costs £10 and this includes their passport, graduation ceremony, gown hire, certificates and support from the Children’s University.

Some activities are free of charge to pupils with passports, some are reduced and some have standard charges associated with them. We are working with schools to make sure that the scheme is affordable for all children.
